Mass Theft of Fatosphere Content
I don't have much to add right now, but Lindsay over at BABble discovered that a blogger, BigBoyMark, has been stealing content wholesale from fat blogs. She has a number of links and screenshots.
Sample: One BFB-ripped off post, and here's the original.
The web archive is revealing. The site evolved (?) from a plain ol' personal home page in 1999, to a gay fat admirers' site, to a pay-for-porn site, to a webhost, to a blog that ripped off content. Weird.
Here's the flickr photostream - if you see something, say something. The sources are all over the place: Jossip, Reason Magazine, random blogs, fat blogs... truly, this is one of the biggest copyright violations I've seen in years.

It looks like he's taken off all the posts, but he did rip off another post about it being Super and Fat Tuesday which was stolen from the Orange County Register. Looks he just doesn't learn. But his domain host was alerted to his plagiarism before he knew he was caught out. Check out the comments at Shapely Prose, that's where I read the aforementioned information.
it's all right to be crazy, just don't let it drive ya nuts!
Apparently....the site is "down for maintenence."
Did we win? Tell me we won!
This guy is ridiculous...the amount and overtness of the plagiarism completely mind-blowing. What a wake-up call. How do people fight this? I mean, obviously Lindsay found this guy and now his blog is down, but he's been doing this for AWHILE.
Techdirt used to have this problem all the time, from multiple plagiarers. It's pretty much an advertising scam. Very rarely do these bottomfeeding blogs make it super high in Google for very long.
As annoying as this sort of theft is, I wouldn't worry about it. But I wouldn't talk about it either. Yesterday there were zero links to this blog. Today, there are probably tens. Let's not let this blog enter our conversation.
I haven't checked, but it's also likely that the original site owner has no control over his site or his content right now.
I can't wait till NYT's legal department gets ahold of him for altering one of their pieces to include himself...
