Dr. Michael Snyder, Bariatric Surgeon, Supports BFB
Good news everyone! Random bariatric surgeon Dr. Michael Snyder apparently loves BFB!
My name is Genesis Kobos and I work with a weight-loss product called FullBar, and its creator, Dr. Michael Snyder. We’re fans of Big Fat Blog and your honest approach to weight-loss and all that it entails, including not only the physical aspects of dieting, but the emotional as well.
Hey, that's great. Thanks for writing!
FullBar’s concept is basically "bariatric surgery in a bar."
There are so many jokes, I don't know where to start.

Well, you DO take an "honest approach to weight loss and all that it entails." But somehow, I don't think that's what he meant.
I can't stop laughing.
Wait, yes I can. The sad part about it is that someone probably gets paid pretty good money to send spam to the wrong people.
Yeah, and that firm is called Story & Welch, LLC.
Somone should get their e-mail and start sending them porno spam. Seriously.
Haha, we need to start a Hall of Shame for clueless and unethical marketing reps.
I for one prefer to do my drinking in bars; using them as venues to perform dangerous and messy surgical procedures would only ruin the experience for all concerned, agitate the Heath and Safety people and definitely put me off my beer.

ROFL. I was thinking the same thing. On the other hand, there'd be plenty of antiseptics available, and perhaps less chance of catching a "superbug." And really, why bother with general anesthetic when you can drink a bottle of whisky instead?
I just checked my email and I got the same note. I found Dr. Snyder's email address elsewhere: It's drsnyder@denverbariatrics.com.
I just sent the good doctor an email and copied the founding partners of the marketing firm who sent the email letting them know, in no uncertain terms, just how medically and ethically irresponsible it is of him to offer free weight-loss product samples to someone recovering from anorexia.
Holy crap, I just saw a commercial for this bar like a few hours ago! Cue twilight zone music. Must be a huge marketing push. Hey, take the Ls out of the product name. Hehe.

Sounds like they should call it FUBAR, not FullBar.
I received a very apologetic note from the marketing firm partner and from Dr. Snyder himself. The partner admitted that the firm failed in its screening process and Dr. Snyder promised to implement a process so this doesn't happen in the future. The doctor also asked me to review his website and the messages it promotes to see how it aligns with the values that I as an eating disorders awareness activist promote. The offer seemed sincere and genuine, and I plan on taking him up on it. Maybe I'm just a sap, but after receiving his email and remarks, I do feel sorry for him. Regardless of how you feel about the service and product he offers, it isn't his fault that the otherwise reputable marketing firm he hired was incompetent in its outreach campaign.
Yeah, I've seen his commercials and he seems earnest enough. Problem being his product is based on the same flawed assumption that fatties just don't know when to stop eating. Can someone get it through these people's heads that is not usually the case??
This might be a good opportunity, Rachel. Maybe he'll actually listen to you. Just don't tell him you're secretly Marilyn Wann, ok?
I've been trying for years to get through to various medical experts that I do not eat a lot. Only one doctor took the time to review the food diary I compiled and admitted that most of the time, I ate too few calories and therein may lie my "difficulties". Whatever.
Yeah, if we don't eat too much, we eat too little. Either way, it's our faults!
Funny how us fat people aren't scarfing down massive amounts of food. Goddamn idiots.
